A very mismatched Durham city 3s travelled away to Morpeth and after the stress of getting the team together the captain gave a simple pre match talk.
The first half was started of very strongly with both sides attacking in what seemed a very evenly matched game as the ball went from one end to the other, but unfortunately for Durham it was Morpeth that made the break through. Durham soon equalised from a short corner goal mouth scramble that Jason Stewart slotted home. Morpeth replied just before half time with another goal which left it at 2-1 .
A quick half time moral boost from Liam Farrar brought another strong start from Durham until a number of dubious decisions riled the captain enough for him to express his disgust (a tad hypocritical after pre match and half time chats) these decisions awarded Morpeth a succession of short corners and 3 quick goals saw Durham on the Backfoot.
A quick break provided city with a short corner which Liam Farrar slotted home and for a 10 minute period Durham looked threateningly like a come back was on the cards until a Morpeth break got a 6th and final goal , to which there seemed no reply from a Durham team that fought hard and certainly did not deserve the score line !
Man of the match Liam Farrar
Dick of the day Steve Hargreaves for a quite laurel and hardy style collision with Jon Collins
