Another game this weekend, another generally unpleasant experience against Hull, and another point won from a team very similar to us. A great performance against Shallam the day before went unrewarded and we remain scorned by our controversial trip across the Humber Bridge earlier in the season, which saw us – to put in gently – robbed of three points, so we were out for blood. As were Hull, but they were somewhat less metaphorical than us.
The violence only really began in the second-half, however, for the first-half was more focussed on goals. A cagey game saw Hull sneak ahead with two goals midway through the half. We soon replied through a short-corner from Mason. 1-2. We were feeling good and agreed to dig deep at half-time.
Hull scored within a few minutes. Last week, we panicked. Now, we remained calm and continued playing our game. We soon got one back. Mason claims it, but people are unsure. He indisputably got our third. It must be tough being the club’s best player. Duncan, usually liked by all off the pitch, made an enemy. They even squared up at one point – the climax of some horrendous tackling from both teams across the pitch. Yet we rode it out and secured a draw. Things are looking much better. Come along to MC on Saturday to see if we can continue our form against Durham Uni 4s.
