Today saw our development team play their first game at home against Hartlepool. Our team featured a range of players from across the men’s and women’s teams and over half of the team were under 18 players, the youngest having just turned 13.

The game was played in a really friendly spirit with both sides producing some brilliant hockey at times. Durham were 3-1 up at halftime but Hartlepool clawed their way back, with the game ending 4-4. Durham were unlucky after a superb strike from a penalty corner was disallowed for being struck just outside the D.

Anyone wishing to join our development squad this season is encouraged to join the team on Pitchero. We have 16 more fixtures booked in on Sundays so there are plenty of opportunities to play more hockey with weekly games scheduled against Sunderland, Gateshead and Hartlepool.
