A solid season all round for DCHC

Mens 1s

The men's 1s had a solid first season back in the Premier League following last year's promotion. A number of narrow losses saw them finish 9th in the table, whilst they remained competitive in all but a couple of games. Some great recruitment has seen a number of young players join the club including Cam Gray (pictured), and bodes well for next season.

Highlight - A 2-1 win over Durham University

Thanks to Danny Mitchell and Iain Mason for helping out significantly since Tom’s work has hampered his availability since Christmas. Good luck to Iain Mason who will be taking over the captaincy next season.

Men's 2s

The 2s avoided relegation soundly, finishing in 10th place. Injuries in the 1st team meant a lot of chopping and changing for the 2s, but they performed strongly, winning 5 games to secure safety.

Highlight - A convincing 4-2 win over North Shields to put any thoughts of relegation to bed.

Timmy Hassell will continue to lead the side next year as they continue to go from strength to strength.

Men's 3s

Led by Sean Chuhan, the 3s had an excellent season, finishing just outside the promotion places in 4th. 11 wins from their 18 games represented a great year for the 3rd team, with a number of young players coming through the side.

Highlight - A remarkable 6 wins in a row before Christmas

Sean Chuhan will carry on his good work with the team next season.

Men's 4s

Our 4s struggled with a lack of availability this season, but managed to gain 2 wins in a transitional season for the team. It was great to see so many young players in the side this year, getting their first taste of senior hockey.

Highlight - A 6-1 win over Marton Furness!

A big thank you to James Steel for leading the side this year, and good luck to Steve Doran who takes the reigns for 2017/18.

Ladies 1s

Our ladies 1s played very well but had bad luck, losing many games they dominated. They lost numerous players and had something of a team crisis of confidence. Nonetheless, a number of strong performances saw them finish in a comfortable 7th place.

Highlight - A 4-1 win over Durham University

Ladies 2s

Our ladies 2s struggled with availability all season, and lost a lot of games as many juniors were pushed into the adult side. They finished 8th of 9, pending a league appeal from Stokesley. Fingers crossed we will avoid relegation. We hope that the 2s will continue to provide a stepping stone into senior hockey for our young players.

Highlight - Winning their final game of the season 3-0 against Stokesley.

A huge thank you to Ali for all her hard work this season, and good luck to Bryony Blanchard who will captain the side next year.

Mixed

It was another good year for our mixed team, who reached the last 32 of the National Knockout. As has become tradition, a lot of travelling made selection difficult, with the side eventually going out to Kendall in a 2-0 loss.

Highlight - An entertaining 5-3 win away to Golbourne

Thanks must go to Danny Mitchell, Laura Hood and Eleanor Jones for organising the side this year. Good luck to Tim Hargreaves who will captain the side with Eleanor next season.
