21/22 Subscriptions and Match Fees

Welcome back to hockey! Firstly, many thanks to all of our membership base, helpers, and parents for your continued support over the last ~ 18 months in what had been a very strange season. We look forward now to the 21/22 season which we all hope will be uninterrupted and a success for all teams.

And so, to the conversation of money….

Yearly subscriptions are now due. All subs must be paid by 30th November 2021. If paying by instalments, the first instalment must be paid by 15th October 2021. In addition, match fees of £5 are due on all friendly/competitive matches within 1 week of the match being played. For yearly subs, it’s a little bit more complicated this year in terms of each individual circumstance, but bear with:

A recap of what was agreed at the AGM:
1. Review of last season (20/21) subs
Guiding Principles:
• Members who paid last year should be rewarded for enabling the club to remain solvent and liquid
• Members who didn’t pay, but who were active should pay something to cover hockey activity during 20/21 (definition: active = participated in competitive play and/or attended training pre Dec20)
• Aim to achieve “net flat” income and expense each year whilst maintaining liquidity at all times
It was therefore approved that the 20/21 yearly subscription fee to be rebased for 20/21 members. Subs to be rebased to be 50% of previously set levels. i.e for Seniors £75 per year (was £150), for Juniors/Concession £35 per year (was £70).

How will this work?
• For 20/21 paid members - you will receive an option to claim a rebate on your 21/22 fees
• 20/21 unpaid members - you will have to pay increased 21/22 fees to cover cost of 20/21 season. Option to pay increased fee with or without rebate impact.
The rebate for 20/21 is optional. Please consider donating your rebate back to the club – it will be gratefully received and redeployed for the benefits of all members. Funds would ringfenced for use to enhance coaching, coach attendance at matches and hockey equipment purchases.

2. Setting of 21/22 subs
It was approved to freeze subs at the previously set levels of £150 for seniors, £70 for juniors/concessions
Eligibility: Junior = under age of 18 at start of season. Concession = over age of 18 at start of season but in full time education or unemployed
At the current time, we are unable to provide a discount to junior members who also attend Durham University Sunday sessions.

You will shortly be assigned a payment option based on whether you are;
• an existing player who paid 20/21 subs;
• existing player who still owes for the 20/21 season, or;
• a new member into the club.

Monthly instalments not available if claiming the available rebate.

A “no pay, no play” policy is in operation. If there are any concerns/queries or if you think you have been given the wrong assignment, please email durhamcityhockey@gmail.com and we will look into it for you.

Many thanks in advance! (from Durham City Hockey Committee)
